Project Summary

Kiwanis Club of Colonial Plymouth

2019 – 2020

Held our Pancake Breakfast to Benefit the Kiwanis Foundation of Plymouth

Assisted the Key Club with charged parking to raise money for their projects and leadership training (our Kiwanis High School club)

Provided $8,000 and 85 service hours to build a playground structure for the Methodist Children’s Home

Donated $500 to First Step Domestic Abuse Shelter for playground repairs

Donated $200 to First Step for Halloween costumes and candy

Had members participate in First Step’s Trunk or Treat event

Sponsored and staffed a dinner for the families housed at Ronald McDonald House

Provided 11 service hours to Kids Coalition Against Hunger to load trucks for major food packaging events in the state

Donated $200 to Foster Closet of Western Wayne County to help foster families

Conducted Thankful Thursdays where club members showed their appreciation for others in our Kiwanis group

Provided 6 service hours to assist Salvation Army pack food boxes for Thanksgiving

Provided 4 service hours to assist First Step take down a tarp on their playground

Donated $750 to Methodist Children’s Home to provide benches and picnic tables to finish off the playground project that we did in October

Provided 17 service hours to assist Salvation Army pack Christmas food boxes

Provided hundreds of service hours to ring bells for Salvation Army for two full days at our locations

Donated $850 to Starkweather Academy Alternative High School to bus students to a workshop about opportunities in manufacturing and economics

Donated $500 to March of Dimes to assist with premature birth work

Donated $500 to the Plymouth Council on Aging for a display rack at their Senior Center

Donated $100 to the Plymouth Canton Schools Clothing Bank

Donated $500 to the SJ5K Fun Run to support families with medical needs and is a project run by high school students at the Plymouth Canton Educational Park

Donated $1,000 to Salvation Army to replenish their food bank after the cancellation of the Postal Workers Food Drive due to the coronavirus outbreak

Donated $1,000 to Plymouth Community United Way to assist with their Coronavirus Relief Fund

Paid Stella’s Tavern $1,400 to buy gift certificates for Huron Valley Ambulance  workers which served as a way to thank first responders, and support a local restaurant during the pandemic shutdown

Donated another $500 to the Salvation Army food pantry

18 members donated bottles and cans to the Plymouth Community United Way drive to raise funds for their Coronavirus Relief Fund

Provided 54 service hours to staff the West Middle School drop off site for Plymouth Community United Way’s Food Drive to support Salvation Army

Donated $1,200 to Bridgepointe to provide food to families they support in Southwest Detroit while school is not in session, this totally covered the month of August

Provided 30 service hours to deliver the food packages for the Bridgepointe project over two different dates

Provided personalized ink pad stamps to residents at the Opportunity House, a group home for adults

Provided volunteers to pick up and deliver furniture for Friends in Deed who support families who are setting up a home for the first time

Donated $1,250 to Life Remodeled in Detroit to help complete their fundraising drive for renovations to the Durfee Innovation Society building, which will now make it a self-sustaining resource for people in the surrounding neighborhoods

Donated $400 to MI Foster Care Closet to assist foster care families

Donated $1,300 to First Step for their annual fundraiser

Donated $1,400 to Salvation Army

Provided 11 service hours to Kids Coalition Against Hunger to once again help load their trucks for food packaging events
