About our club

Kiwanis helps kids around the world. Our Kiwanis club looks out for our community and the Kiwanis International organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty. Our Kiwanis club is generous with its time. We are creative with our ideas. We are passionate about making a difference. And we have fun along the way!

Although we are certainly only a small local piece of the greater Kiwanis International, our local focus reigns supreme – You can see us as we bring you Good Morning USA Parade each Fourth of July – or perhaps as we add a new feature to Kiwanis Park right on the corner of Farmer and Auburn Streets – or maybe as we demonstrate our cooking skills at our annual Pancake Breakfast at Fall Festival – or possibly you have feasted on the delicious popcorn from our popcorn wagon right here in Kellogg Park. Wonder if you ever used the pavilion we have built at Plymouth Township Park? Starts to sound like we are bragging ……..

But as they say – “Wait there’s more.”

We are out there having fun ringing the Salvation Army bell at Christmas, preparing meals for the families at Ronald McDonald House in Ann Arbor, hosting a game area at the Special Olympics opening ceremonies, sponsoring a Kiwanis Aktion Club for adults living with disabilities right here in downtown Plymouth.

Do not let it be said that we are all work and no play! We’ve enjoyed our Christmas Party at venues like the Detroit Zoo, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Comerica Park, Greenfield Village – even the Detroit Parade Company.

There is always a load of laughter and a fine speaker that makes up our weekly luncheon meetings. The occasional mystery trip or a Tiger’s game – maybe even a good old-fashioned picnic appears on our agenda.

Yes, we are Plymouth Kiwanis – Yes, we are volunteers – Yes, we’re proud of what we bring to Plymouth!

The Kiwanis Mission & Vision

Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. Kiwanis strives to be a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive. Our Kiwanis club fulfills the Kiwanis mission by serving our community through Kiwanis Community Service Projects

Kiwanis Service

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.

Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
